Benidorm turns off its lights in protest against climate change and in defense of the environment
Tonight, Benidorm has turned off for one hour, from 20.30 to 21.30, the lights of such emblematic areas as the rides of Levante and Poniente, or 'La Cruz' that, from Serra Gelada, can be seen throughout the city . The reason for this action is the commemoration of 'Earth Hour', which is promoted every year by the conservation organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF, for its acronym in English).
The initiative is carried out in the city through the Department of the Environment directed by José Ramón González de Zárate. Benidorm joins the more than 7,000 cities around the world that aim, with this gesture, to draw attention to climate change and to defend the environment.
