Benidorm safe beaches, awaiting opinion

05 June 2020
Benidorm playas seguras, a espera de dictamen

The Councilor for Beaches, Mónica Gómez, stressed today that the project of Safe Beaches for Benidorm is already awaiting an opinion. The councilor highlighted the transversality of Benidorm's commitment to maximum health safety on its beaches, noting "the joint work of the departments of Tourism, Public Security and Emergency, Local Police, Urban Planning and Engineering together with the concession companies and Benidorm Visit Foundation ”to complete this process of Safe Beaches.

Gómez stressed that it is "an evolved work and complemented by a project that includes and adapts the regulations that have been marking us, both from the Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Health, and Tourism of Generalitat Valenciana".

It is, she said, "protocols and measures that were communicated on May 23 through the BOE and that Turisme transferred its regulations for Safe Beaches on May 27," which includes a Contingency and Emergency Plan that Minister Bravo "announced that it was going to be published shortly and has not been published yet ”. In that meeting, Mónica Gómez stressed, “Benidorm was set as an example as one of the two municipalities in the Community that already have an Emergency Plan”. And she added: "and we continue working on it."

The councilor pointed out the fickle of the rules "that change from one day to the next", which complicates the technical expression for the execution.

Mónica Gómez was particularly forceful in pointing out that all the municipal groups have received the same and timely information and that "when all this work is completed, with the corresponding technical reports, the groups will be the first to know about it."

The councilor emphasized the reports of the different municipal departments involved and that "there are many professionals who are working on this project."

Job offer

Mónica Gómez indicated that the Government Team "has also been aware of it" and that initiative seems logical. She added that "with the different phases there are many companies that want to bid to manage resources in Benidorm."

In this sense, the councilor stressed that there are regulations on access control, gauging and maintenance of physical distances and actions on beaches that many companies will be evaluating to offer their services. And at the same time, settled the question: "The City Council has nothing to do with these offers, it has not been coordinated or hired staff."
