Benidorm renews its collaboration with the Red Cross to attend to social and health emergency situations

Benidorm renueva su colaboración con Cruz Roja para la atención de situaciones de emergencia social y sanitaria

This year, Benidorm City Council will maintain its collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross to respond to social and health emergencies that may occur in the city. The continuity of this collaboration has been endorsed this Tuesday with the signing of the agreement by Mayor Toni Pérez and the president of the Local Red Cross Group in Benidorm, Mara Martínez, through which the City Council will contribute 370,000 euros to the entity in 2024 so that he can continue developing his work. The councillor of Health, Ana Pellicer, as well as the local technical director of the Red Cross, Mari Carmen García, also participated in the signing.

The first mayor explained that, as stated in the document itself, the City Council will deliver 60% of the total amount of the aid, 220,000 euros, at the time of signing the agreement, while the remaining 40%, which amounts to another 148,000 euros will be transferred at the end of the year.

Toni Pérez has indicated that "as it could not be less, we are going to maintain this collaboration that is so necessary and that has been working so well in recent years and that is reflected in the development of different actions and the provision of services." socio-sanitary services to citizens, supporting different municipal activities, both in the field of preventive services and social assistance.”

This agreement is valid for one year and includes the different actions with this cooperation. The mayor recalled that "among the main actions that the Red Cross has been providing to citizens in Benidorm include preventive services, intervention in emergencies, social intervention in-home care services, social care for extremely vulnerable people and immigrants, education for health, child and youth violence prevention programs, the promotion of school success or environmental surveillance functions” and that all these actions “can continue to be provided with all guarantees thanks to this collaboration.”

Likewise, within the Comprehensive Emergency Response System (SIRE), the Red Cross will make available to the City Council two Basic Life Support ambulances with all their equipment, a land vehicle, and a mobile first aid point (PAPS) equipped with medical supplies, and an aid station enabled with a radio and telephone communications network and centralization of vehicles and equipment of people, as well as personnel and a Health Emergency Technician to cover this service 24 hours a day, every day of the year, who will be able to attend the preventive measures requested by the City Council in large events as well as in festive, educational, health, sports or any other area where their presence is required, added Toni Pérez.

Exhibition of vehicles and other resources

On the other hand, Red Cross sources have announced that next Saturday, June 15, at Plaza de SS MM los Reyes de España there will be an exhibition to present to citizens a new ambulance and other resources that this organization regularly uses for the care for homeless people or in cases of prevention and emergency.

This exhibition will be open to the public and will take place throughout the morning.
