The 'skyline' of the city stars in this initiative in which the City Council and Ecovidrio collaborate and which reaches 35 containers

Benidorm personalizes its glass containers with a design by the artist Malagón

The glass recycling containers in Benidorm have a new personalized image based on a design by the graphic artist Malagón. The Councilor for the Environment, Mónica Gómez, explained that "for several days, this image can be seen in part of the containers installed on public roads, in an initiative in which the City Council and Ecovidrio, a non-profit entity, have collaborated that is responsible for collecting and giving a new life to glass containers.

This initiative "initially reaches 35 containers", which have already been vinyl with the design signed by Malagón and which is based "on our iconic 'skyline', which constitutes one of the most recognizable images of Benidorm, in a visual game of skyscrapers and glass”.

Gómez highlighted that "year after year Benidorm is among the Spanish cities with the highest rates and volumes of glass recycling and also one of those with the highest percentages of containers per inhabitant". Last November the councilor and the mayor, Toni Pérez, collected the Green Flag, with which Ecovidrio annually distinguishes the municipalities that present the best recycling numbers during the summer season.

Precisely because of the intensive use that the population and the productive fabric make of the containers and because of their important presence on public roads, "we wanted this element to have its own and differentiated design, as is the case with other elements of street furniture."
