The City Council has obtained more advantageous conditions when closing the new contract through the Central Contracting Office of Alicante Provincial Council
Benidorm manages to reduce the price of the electricity supply contract, which will continue to be 100% of renewable origin
Benidorm City Council has closed the new electricity supply contract, which will continue to be 100% of renewable origin and with which it has achieved a price reduction that ranges between 8% and 16% depending on the type of rate and the time period. The Councilor for Contracting, Aída García Mayor, explained that "by being adhered to the Central Contracting Office of Alicante Provincial Council, the City Council has obtained more advantageous conditions than it had to date, benefiting from the prices and rates achieved by the provincial body, which last May awarded this supply lot - the free market one - to Iberdrola ”.
García Mayor has reported that the Local Government Board has given the green light to this contract, valid until September 30, 2022 and that it includes the electricity supply "of public lighting and of all municipal buildings and facilities."
The mayor has underlined that "the fact of operating through the Central de Contratación de la Diputación also implies more advantageous conditions, which will result in municipal spending on electrical energy consumption, a bureaucratic relief for the City Council, since it is of a very complex tender that until now had to be addressed directly every two years ”.
Apart from obtaining more competitive conditions and prices, the Councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, has stressed that “with the new contract we continue to guarantee that 100% of the electrical energy is of renewable origin, thus advancing in the compliance with our Action Plan for Sustainable Energy (SEAP) and the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) of the 2030 Agenda ”.
Furthermore, "the fact that all the energy we consume in municipal services, facilities and buildings is renewable in turn ensures that we continue to access European subsidies linked to the development of sustainable projects and actions".
For the financial year 2020, the City Council has budgeted 1,850,000 euros for electricity supply.
