Benidorm launches a job counseling program for women over 40

07 September 2017
Benidorm pone en marcha un programa de orientación laboral para mujeres de más de cuarenta años

This initiative of Employment is intended to alleviate the situation of the collective with the highest unemployment rate in the city

Benidorm City Council has set up a work orientation program for unemployed women, over 40 years, resident in the locality and who are registered in the Agency for Employment and Local Development (AEDL), a subsidiary of the Department of Job. The objective of this initiative is "to facilitate the labor insertion and improve the employability of this group", announced the responsible of this municipal area, María Jesús Pinto, who has presented the initiative accompanied by the labor counselor Gemma Llorens and the representative of the Obra Social 'La Caixa', Adrià Conesa.

María Jesús Pinto said that this program is justified mainly "in the current situation of the labor market in our city, in which women over forty are the group with the highest unemployment rate." A segment of the population that "represents more than a third of the total unemployed people living in Benidorm, according to data from the Servef (Valencian Employment and Training Service) for the month of July," said the councilwoman.

According to the head of Employment, the program will last four months and an investment of 6,000 euros has been foreseen, which will be funded by the 'La Caixa' Social Work Fundation, which has been thanked on behalf of Benidorm City Council for its 'involvement in this and other projects "made from the AEDL with the aim of achieving full employment. In this sense, Adrià Conesa recalled that 'La Caixa' is one of the most important social works in Europe, and the first in Spain, where last year invested 600 million euros, 26 in the Region of Valencia.

The women who are interested in participating in this program can go to the offices of the AEDL where they will hold an individual interview with technicians of the Department. From there they are given the "employability diagnosis", Gemma Llorens has specified, who has also insisted that they will be helped "as much as possible to make them feel motivated in the search for employment" especially providing them with as much information as possible .
