The City Council approves grants for the amount of 215,090 euros, 35% more than in 2021

Benidorm increases in two years by nearly 57,000 euros the grants for psycho-pedagogical treatments

Benidorm City Council has increased in two years by nearly 57,000 euros the amount granted within the call for aid aimed at collaborating with the cost of psycho-pedagogical treatments that the city's students receive. Thus, "compared to the 158,202 euros granted in 2021, the call for 2023 has been resolved with 166 beneficiaries and 215,090 euros in aid, which represents an increase of 35% in just two years", as reported by the mayor of Education, Maite Moreno.

If the year 2019 is taken as a reference, "the economic resources allocated to these aids from the Department of Education have multiplied by two".

The councilor transferred this data after the Local Government Board approved on Monday the final resolution of the grant, from which Infant, Primary, and Secondary students benefit.

Moreno recalled that with these grants “part of the private treatments that the beneficiary students receive are paid for to overcome reading-writing and/or learning difficulties, improve oral language, treat school maladjustment and behavioral disorders; as well as early stimulation or those oriented to work their high capacities“. In some cases, "students receive a combined treatment to act in two of these areas."

The person in charge of Education explained that "depending on the type of treatment, the amount of aid granted ranges between 95 and 230 euros per month, with a maximum aid of 2,000 per student."

The councillor emphasized that "through these grants, we intend that minors from families with more limited resources can access this type of treatment that is key to their personal and/or academic development." "We want Benidorm students who have special needs or who need to treat a disorder to be helped," she added.
