Paseo de Tamarindos in La Cala has been the scene where the presentation of a state-of-the-art drone took place, whose purpose is to improve rescue on beaches, mountains and hostile environments. This presentation was attended by the Councilor for Public Security, Lorenzo Martínez, who highlighted that "Benidorm is always attentive to the latest advances in security, as we have shown by being pioneers in the use of drones in our Local Police."

The drone presented is called Saturno and is an unmanned aircraft model intended for beach rescue interventions and demanding security operations.

"This type of technology represents a great advance in rescues and our task is to be at the forefront of technology to improve our operations and offer the best possible service to Benidorm" added the mayor, who also stressed that the city "continues in its line of innovation in this field by applying technology to common tasks to improve safety”.

The responsible company has carried out a rescue drill, during which the aircraft has helped a swimmer who was in a supposed risk situation on Poniente beach.

Once the position of the victim is detected, Saturno delivers a life jacket in a controlled manner that activates automatically when it comes into contact with the water and keeps the victim in an upright position. The drone is capable of delivering up to two life jackets.

This aircraft has a surveillance and prevention system that performs control rounds collecting information in real-time, evaluating risk situations quickly and safely and effectively. It is the most advanced solution for unmanned beach and mountain rescue operations and is designed to intervene quickly, safely and effectively in any weather situation in all types of environments.

With a 100% Spanish design, it has a range of half an hour, an integrated megaphone with a device for emitting independent messages and offers the possibility of flying in adverse weather conditions. It is also capable of carrying an interchangeable load of 5 kilograms and withstands winds of up to 50 km/h while collecting aerial data in dangerous places, thus guaranteeing the safety of rescue teams.
