Benidorm Government awards the construction of a roundabout at the junction of Ricardo Bayona and Venezuela for 593,000 euros

The Local Government Board (JGL) of Benidorm City Council has awarded today, in view of the Procurement Table's proposal, the construction of a roundabout at the junction of Ricardo Bayona and Venezuela streets to improve accessibility. This work is the largest of those included in this year's participatory budgets and will involve an investment of 593,419.57 euros, VAT included.
The award went to Pavasal Company, which presented the best offer of the six that participated in the tender and which included as improvements the execution of works in the nearby area of ​​execution of the project. The start of the works will take place at the end of this month, once the contract has been signed.
As explained by the Councilor for Citizenship Participation, Ana Pellicer, it is a municipal action “that will improve road traffic and pedestrian access in a highly populated neighborhood, with access to Foietes Health Center, the Specialties Center and the educational centers Ausias March and Miguel Hernández. Most of the vehicles that go from Poniente to the center of the city circulate in that area ”.
The councillor explained that this intervention is "similar to those carried out previously in Estanquet and Orozco roundabouts" in which traffic flow has been improved. In this sense, she has indicated that now, before the traffic light zebra crossing, "when it is red for the driver, the pedestrian is given a minute and a half, but once the work is finished, it will have an impact on greater agility in traffic" .
The place where the new roundabout will be created is an urban enclave "which currently generates a lot of tension at some times of the day, especially when entrances and exits of schools", hence this neighborhood proposal is committed to "winning in calm, safety and improvement of the flow of traffic ”.
Pellicer has insisted that from the City Council and the government team "we will continue on the side of the neighbors supporting the investments and updates what they request, as we have been doing since 2016" and has highlighted the commitment of the local government to always increase the amount of the 5% that is collected in the municipal budgets to be allocated to the Participatory Budget. "It is our commitment and concern to meet and exceed these amounts to give prominence to citizens in initiatives like this that serve to improve the city."
