In a gala followed by more than 1.5 million viewers, Varry Brava, Blanca Paloma, Tanxugueiras and Chanel get a place in the final
Benidorm Fest, a global trending topic during the first semifinal
Benidorm Fest was last night a 'trending topic' on Twitter worldwide during the broadcast on RTVE of the first semifinal of the event, from which the representative of Spain will be chosen for the next Eurovision Song Contest in Turin. According to some data published in the last few hours, the gala resulted in more than 141,000 comments and more than 230,000 interactions, a reach of over 100 million users and also being a 'trending topic' in 14 countries.
With Alaska, Máximo Huerta and Inés Hernand as presenters, this first semifinal of Benidorm Fest was followed on RTVE channels by more than 1.5 million viewers, who experienced the performances and votes that placed in the final of the next Saturday to Varry Brava, Blanca Paloma, Tanxugueiras and Chanel. Azúcar Moreno and Unique did not reach to be in the final.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, has pointed out that "these data on social networks and the great media impact that Benidorm Fest is having in the previous weeks and especially these days confirm that the commitment to this event and the chosen formula is quite a right, since in addition to the 'eurofans' there are many people who have recovered the illusion for Eurovision, illusion that is very necessary in these times”.
With the name of the first four finalists, tonight the second gala will be held, from which the other four finalists will emerge, once the vote of the technical jury, the demoscopic jury and the votes of the spectators have been weighted. Xeinn, Marta Sango, Javiera Mena, Rigoberta Bandini, Rayden and Sara Deop will be on the stage of Palau d'Esports l'Illa, in Benidorm while Gonzalo Hermida's performance will be replaced by the broadcast of his video clip. Like yesterday, the second semifinal will be broadcast live from Palau d'Esports l'Illa starting at 10:40 p.m. on RTVE channels.
Facing the final of Benidorm Fest on Saturday, the 29th, Benidorm City Council is going to install four giant screens on Paseo de Levante, which will be arranged in the section between Bilbao and Valencia streets. Starting at 8:00 p.m., ambient music and videos of the city will be broadcast, connecting at 10:00 p.m. with the live broadcast of RTVE.
