‘Benidorm for Equality’, video contest on TikTok to raise awareness about gender equality
The Youth and Equality Councils launch a video contest to raise awareness and fight for gender equality, framed in the events around March 8, International Women's Day.
“’ Benidorm for equality ’will compile videos on the social network TikTok with two clear objectives. For the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, the objective is "to generate, especially among the youngest, a reflection on the concept and reality of gender equality." For the Councilor for Youth Jaime Jesús Pérez, the contest is made possible "to stimulate the creative capacity of youth that we know is great and great in a capital issue that implies the same rights, equality and respect."
To encourage participation, two awards have been established for audiovisual works through the TikTok application, on a theme related to gender equality. A jury for this purpose will choose among all the proposals that meet the registration requirements and that have been received within the established deadline, the best video.
The Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, pointed out that "the possibilities for the development of creativity are many" and pointed out issues that range from "gender equality in sports or employment opportunities, to domestic tasks and the denunciation of relationships toxic, going through the detection of situations of machismo or aspects of empowerment ”. One of the main ones will be, said the councilor, "the fight against gender violence."
The Councilor for Youth has insisted that "to participate you only need will, desire and motive", noting his confidence "in the creativity of the youth and their awareness of the issue."

The theme of the contest includes everything that concerns the fight for gender equality. The maximum duration of the videos will be 60 seconds, and all the creative possibilities provided by the TikTok social network itself can be used.
In order to participate in the contest it will only be necessary that the participant, or the participants, live, study, work or were born in Benidorm. It is endowed with a first prize of 200 euros and a second prize of 100 euros. The deadline for entry is March 10 and the winners will be announced on March 16.
Those registered in Benidorm will automatically access, confirmed the mayor Zaragorí, to the contest organized by the Regional Council for Equality in the area of the Marina Baixa.
Participation, said the councillor of Youth, will be "individual or group", noting that in this second mode "a small group of friends or a whole class can participate, but there must always be a person identified as responsible who will be the one that makes the inscription ”.
