Benidorm, elegida como ejemplo de DTI para el curso de verano de la UIMP en Santander

Benidorm has been chosen as a model of smart tourist destination to participate in the summer course of Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), which is held in Santander in the middle of this month and which is jointly organized by Segittur and the City Council of the Cantabrian capital. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, will be one of the speakers of this prestigious course, which aims to offer "a global vision of the DTI methodology to contribute to the continuous improvement of tourist destinations".

To do so, on July 15 and 16, "we will travel to Santander to participate in" these courses of the highest level "in which" the present and future of tourist destinations linked to intelligence will be discussed ", and that Benidorm "can give a good account" since we are "spearhead nationally and internationally" in the use of "smart tourism at service of destinations" and in "digital transformation".

The mayor has assured that it is "an honor and a satisfaction" to participate in these courses "together with the head of tourism of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, and those of other municipalities such as Santander, Arona, San Sebastián or Salou, which they already work to be smart tourist destinations. " Representatives of UNE, Red.es, Invattur, AMETIC and Predif will also attend the event

Pérez pointed out that in this summer course "we will be able to show the model and experience of Benidorm" in the way that has allowed it to become the first certified DTI in the world, and to do it from an explanatory, guiding and training perspective.

The Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Oliver, will be in charge of inaugurating the course, which aims to share the essential concepts of smart tourist destination and the model of diagnosis and strategic planning, offering a global vision of the DTI methodology to contribute to the continuous improvement of tourist destinations. The course will conclude with the presentation of the diagnosis and planning process of an smart tourist destination, to which will be added a comparative analysis of recommendations for those destinations that want to become smart.
