More than twenty people participated in the event to revitalize this space and turn it into a meeting point for business and innovation
Benidorm begins a new phase at Espai Coworking to promote local entrepreneurship
Benidorm City Council, through its Employment and Local Promotion Agency, held an event today to relaunch and revitalise the Espai Coworking Benidorm as a public space designed to be the epicentre of entrepreneurship and innovation in the city. The event, attended by more than twenty people, took place at the Espai Coworking, located at number 3 Avenida Juan Fuster, Zaragoza. Also in attendance were Mónica Gómez, Councilor for Employment and Local Development, and two leading figures in the region's business community: Dioni Navarro, director of the Acronáutica Group and current president of JOVEMPA Marina Baixa (Association of Young Entrepreneurs), and Débora Carretero, CEO of the travel agency Low Travel and president of AVIBE (Association of Travel Agencies of Benidorm), who began their professional careers in this space and shared their experiences as users.
Mónica Gómez welcomed all the participants to this networking activity, recalling that this Espai Coworking began in 2019 and, since then, "has been a centre for innovation and entrepreneurship, providing a space for all those brave souls who dare to launch a business initiative with limited resources, but with many ideas and enthusiasm."
The Espai Coworking Benidorm is a public service of Benidorm City Council that offers a flexible and collaborative work environment for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and startups. Its mission is to foster innovation, professional synergy, and the growth of the local business community by providing not only a physical space but also an active community and a schedule of training and networking events.
It has nine spaces for the establishment of new companies, of which seven are currently available, in addition to spaces for the daily work of associations such as Jovempa Marina Baixa and Memba. The councillor noted that companies that establish themselves in this space can operate completely free of charge for the first six months, after which they pay a monthly fee of €150 for a maximum period of two years.
“For a few months now, we have set out to boost this space to further promote this service and the job opportunities it offers to professionals, startups, and self-employed workers in the city,” said Mónica Gómez. The councillor also noted that at the Espai Coworking, “they will be able to create synergies, share knowledge, and learn about other support options that the City Council offers to entrepreneurs and small self-employed workers, such as direct aid for new business creation or the Entrepreneurial Ideas Competition.”
As part of this renovation, the new official website https://espaicoworkingbenidorm.com has also been launched. This website will centralise all information, including the schedule of activities, training sessions, and talks, and will allow for simple and direct registration for events.
Following the presentation by the councillor, Dioni Navarro and Débora Carretero shared their experiences and insights from their business beginnings at the Espai Coworking with the participants and analysed the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship in such a dynamic environment as Benidorm. This was followed by a networking event where attendees were able to connect, exchange ideas, and strengthen ties in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Councillor for Employment and Local Promotion, Mónica Gómez, emphasised that "with the relaunch of the Espai Coworking, we reaffirm our commitment to local talent and the creation of an ecosystem that facilitates the emergence and consolidation of new business projects. We want this space to be a true engine of innovation, a place where ideas are transformed into successful businesses, thereby promoting job creation, one of the pillars of municipal action, as it is the best social policy that can be promoted."
This revitalisation project was designed in collaboration with the Genion cooperative, an expert in coworking space management and entrepreneurial ecosystem development. It was made possible thanks to the support of the Alicante Provincial Council, which funded the initiative through a grant from the Economic Promotion and Productive Sectors department.
