Benidorm avanza en la redacción de su Plan Joven, que en breve iniciará la fase de participación ciudadana

Benidorm City Council is making progress in the drafting of its 'Youth Plan', a document that will set out the strategy and actions to be developed at the municipal level to improve the quality of life and opportunities for the young population between the ages of 12 and 30, which represents more than 22% of the total registered. The councillor of Youth, Jaime Jesús Pérez, has indicated that "we have been working on the preparation of this document since the beginning of the year, with the aim of being able to approve this Plan in the last quarter of 2020 and develop it until 2023."

At this time, "the analysis phase of the situation has already ended and we are about to start the phase of citizen participation, which will help us to have a much more global and accurate study of the needs, demands and problems." In this phase of citizen participation, "youth associations and all those entities in the city that have youth members among their members" will be invited to participate.

Pérez has moved that "we have redoubled efforts to prepare this document and through a grant a Youth technician was hired last December specifically for this purpose."

The councillor has advanced that this Plan is going to be transversal with the involvement of various institutions and municipal areas whose action is linked or has an impact on the youth population, such as the departments of Employment, Education, Health, Culture, Sports and Citizen participation". In fact, the Plan's technical group has members from all of these departments.

According to Pérez, “among the specific objectives of the Joven Youth Plan’ are to promote youth associationism; advise young people on employment, training and emancipation; carry out recreational, social, sports and cultural activities; and to have areas that become spaces that really allow the active participation of young people ”. Regarding this last aspect, he recalled that “in his electoral program this government team already included the creation of a Large Youth Center in Plaza de Toros, a project linked to the Sustainable and Integrative Urban Development Strategy (Edusi) "
