The filming office will collect this 'Premi Turisme' next Thursday in Valencia

The AVT recognizes the work of promotion and tourist communication of Benidorm Film Office

20 September 2018
La AVT reconoce la labor de promoción y comunicación turística de la Benidorm Film Office

The Agència Valenciana de Turisme (AVT) has recognized the work of promotion and tourist communication of Benidorm Film Office, by awarding the 'Premi Turisme' in this modality shared with the Red Cross of the Valencian Community. This award announced yesterday by the regional secretary of Tourism, Francesc Colomer, has been published today in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) and will be delivered on September 27 in Valencia, coinciding with the celebration of World Tourism Day.

At the time of recognizing Benidorm Film Office, the jury of 'Premis Turisme' has valued the promotion and the initiatives developed by the filming office to improve the "positioning" of the destination.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the responsible of the Film Office, Rosa Llorca, explained that this award is "the recognition and reward for a constant and tenacious work that we have been doing with Visit Benidorm and the involvement of many departments of the City Hall with the aim of becoming a powerful destination within the so-called 'screentourism', a growing market. " For now, Benidorm Film Office has already participated this year in the Assembly of the Spain Film Commission, which are part of the most important filming offices in the country.

Llorca indicated that it was decided to opt for these awards considering that "it was a good time to offer the results we have obtained in 2017, a year that ended with an increase of 12% of audiovisual productions made in Benidorm and with an economic impact direct of 3 million euros ". And everything seems to indicate that this growth will continue because "still remaining the last quarter of 2018, we have more than 115 consultations attended and 75 filming, filming or materialized photo sessions."

Among the most important productions made in the city so far this year, highlights the series 'Fugitiva' starring Paz Vega, which was shot mostly in Benidorm and whose "media impacts would not be assumable with any other traditional campaign." To this shoot is added the last season of 'Benidorm', the British ITV series that for a decade every week has been gathering millions of spectators in front of the television, achieving a very important promotion and repercussion for the destination.

The head of the Benidorm Film Office pointed out that these numbers "also show something very important: we have the recognition of many professionals in the sector, who see in the city a magnificent set for their projects and who want to work here because we are diligent to facilitate the procedures and the materialization of their audiovisual or photographic productions ".
