A Navy ship will remain in the Bay during the event held by Codex Belix association and involving more than 300 actors

Benidorm will recreate the "D-Day" landing on Poniente beach

Benidorm volverá a recrear el desembarco del “Día D” en la playa de Poniente

Poniente beach in Benidorm will be transformed for the second time in Normandy with the recreation of the landing that the allied troops made on June 6, 1944, during the Second World War on the French coast. On this occasion, the chosen date will be Saturday, September 29. An event that has become known today as 'Benidorm D Day' and for the thirteenth time organizes the Association of historical recreations Codex Belix, with the Department of Fiestas, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Defense, the Subdelegation of the Government in Alicante and the Association of Neighbors of the West.

The councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, has participated along with Antonio Lalaguna, president of Codex Belix and Juan Melero, representative of the Association of Neighbors of Poniente in a press conference to present the program of activities that will begin on Friday 28 and will last until Sunday 30. About the change of date to September (last year took place in June), said that "these days are the best for Benidorm calendar", which will be "spectacular and very colorful ", and that will attract many neighbors and visitors.

During the weekend there will be exhibitions of military uniforms, miniatures and of the Armed Forces and of the State Security Bodies. Likewise, you can see military parades with vehicles, vintage camps and historical recreations in specific points of the city.

The disembarkation will take place on Saturday afternoon, at 6:00 pm, in the area adjacent to Elche Park. During the show, a ship of the Navy Naval Base in Cartagena will remain in the Bay and more than 300 re-enacting actors from all over Spain and abroad will intervene, who will interpret soldiers and officers of the armies who fought on the French coasts during the Second World War. On Sunday there will be a second recreation in the same place, on this occasion it will be the 'Operation Avalanche' that commemorates the allied invasion of Italy during the same war. The show will continue with a jump of paratroopers by the Air Force.

The program of 'Benidorm Día D' has also included musical performances by Dr. Bogarde, The Red Velvets and the recreation of the Paris of the 1940s in the Levante area. On public attendance, Antonio Lalaguna has said that 50,000 people could be reached, so the landing "will have an important economic impact on the city." Finally, Juan Melero has shown all the support of the association and has vowed that the event "stay in Benidorm for many years."
