The works will last from seven to ten days and the loading and unloading area will be set up in adjacent streets

Avenida Bélgica will have one more exit lane towards Comunidad Valenciana Avenue to improve traffic flow

13 December 2022
Calle Bélgica

Work will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, to improve mobility on Bélgica Avenue, which will mean the creation of a new traffic lane to join Comunidad Valenciana Avenue. Therefore the avenue will have one lane going up and two lanes going down.

The objective of the work, as explained by the Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, is "to improve the flow of traffic at this point, which is now more affected as a result of the works on Avenida Beniardá."

The works will last from seven to ten days and will also entail the suppression of the lug located at the intersection with Comunidad Valenciana and the elimination of the loading and unloading parking strip in the section that goes from Iceland street to the confluence with Comunidad Valenciana avenue.

González de Zárate has clarified, however, that this loading and unloading space "is not lost, but will be enabled in the area around Islandia and Municipi streets." "What we have achieved" he added "is one more traffic lane and improving mobility at this point".

The execution of this intervention is the responsibility of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) since it is an action linked to the burying of Beniardá avenue. In this sense, the mayor recalled that "we have already carried out several works to improve mobility as a result of this work", among which he cited "one more lane in Comunidad Europea roundabout, another at the station exit, the works in Poniente area and the park-and-ride parking space in Levante and Poniente”.

González de Zárate insisted that on Bélgica Avenue "there are small delays at the school entrance and exit times and that is why, after studying it, we are going to create this new lane, so that more vehicles can leave for Comunidada Europea Avenue than if there was only one lane when the traffic light is green”. "It will be a very beneficial performance" he concluded.
