The bay of Benidorm has hosted this morning the XVIII Popular Swimming Crossing l'Illa-Port; a popular event in which about 320 swimmers participated and in which Jonás Marín, from the Aquatic Les Marines Swimming Club, and Zoe Connolly, who had registered as an independent, have been proclaimed winners in the General Male and Female category, respectively . The swimmer of the Marina Alta has covered the 3,200 meters that separate the island of Benidorm from the beach of Mal Pas in a time of 47 minutes and 45 seconds, while Connolly has done it in 53 minutes and 20 seconds.

The swimmers have launched into the water around 0830 hours, accompanied by a safety device consisting of 13 fast boats, 4 of them jet skis, as well as 33 kayaks. At the finish line, located on the sand of Mal Pas beach, they were waiting, among others, the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Ceberos, who has subsequently delivered, together with several members of the Corporation, the trophies to the winners of The different categories.

As in previous years, the Crossing has recognized the club that has brought more athletes to the test. An award that this time has fallen to the Aguaviva Benidorm Club, with 22 swimmers who have crossed the finish line.

In total, prizes have been awarded in eleven categories: Absolute, Senior A - between 18 and 29 years old, Senior B - between 30 and 39 years old, Veterans A - between 40 and 44 years old, Veterans B - between 45 and 49 years old -, Veterans C - between 50 and 54 years -, Veterans D - between 55 and 59 years -, From 60 years, People with functional diversity, Local Swimmers and Club with greater participation.
