Municipal School Council

PRESENTATION

The Benidorm Municipal School Council (CEMB) is the highest advisory body for participation in the programming, control, debate and management of all matters related to educational matters in the municipality, according to the corresponding regional regulations.

FUNCTIONS

• Submit its resolutions to the municipal decision-making bodies, on the following topics:

  Preparation of proposals and requests for the location, construction and renovation of educational centres and school units within the municipal area

  Municipal actions and provisions related to education with an impact on subjects such as Special Education, schooling of young people at social risk, complementary and extracurricular activities, and non-regulated education

  Establishment, distribution and management of the resources that the Benidorm City Council must invest in educational matters and those other funds that are discretionally included in the municipal budgets for educational actions.

  Constitution of boards or municipal educational institutes.

  Proposal for an agreement and agreements to improve the provision of educational services.

  To be able to collect information from the educational Administration and local authorities on any matter that concerns education at the municipal level and, especially, on school performance.

  Power, at the initiative of the CEMB, submits a report to the competent administration on issues related to sections A and B.

  All those functions are attributed to it by legislation.

MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL

To represent the different sectors of the local school community, the CEMB has the following structure:

• Presidency, delegate from the Mayor's Office: 1 person

  Councillor appointed by the Plenary Session of the Corporation: 1 member

  Associations of Mothers and Fathers of Students: 7 members

  Administration and Services Staff: 2 members

  Teaching staff: 7 members

  Directors of Public Centers: 2 members

  Representatives of Neighborhood Associations: 2 members

  Owners of Private Centers: 1 member

  Trade union organizations in the general field of workers: 2 members

  Representatives of Educational Administration: 2 members

  Student Associations: 3 members

  The CEMB Plenary appoints its secretary from among its members.
