Each of the three entities will receive 15,000 euros, the maximum amount eligible to finance their own expenses

Benidorm subsidizes local music schools with 45,000 euros for their cultural and educational work

Benidorm subvenciona con 45.000 euros a las escuelas de música locales por su labor cultural y educativa

Benidorm Local Government Board has approved the final resolution of the grants for music schools and students, with each local band receiving €15,000, bringing €45,000. Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, reported that "the 2024/2025 academic year is, along with last year's, the year in which the most money has been awarded, as the three Benidorm musical organisations reached the maximum eligible amount."

Pérez recalled that "these grants were launched in 2016 to help finance the expenses of the city's musical organizations, in recognition of the important work they do promoting culture by taking on the education and training of a portion of the new generations of local musicians." In fact, the three organizations together have more than 750 students, some of whom "are introduced to music at a very early age thanks to the schools of the Unión Musical, the Societat Musical l'Illa, and the Societat Musical La Nova."

These numbers, he added, "demonstrate that Benidorm has a broad pool of musicians to continue maintaining and even further promoting the close relationship that has existed for many decades between music and the city." Pérez emphasised that these music schools and students are added to Benidorm's regulated musical offerings, taught at the José Pérez Barceló Municipal Music Conservatory, and he noted that many students combine this training with their work in the bands themselves.

As in all previous calls for proposals, the amount of aid each entity receives is determined by a series of objective criteria outlined in the rules, such as the number of students enrolled, the band's membership, and the annual expenditures associated with the school.

Once again, the Councillor for Culture emphasised that "Benidorm's musical societies are a fundamental pillar in the promotion and dissemination of the city's culture." He also praised "their involvement and willingness to participate in the cultural, festive, and institutional events held throughout the year," and their "increasing commitment to promoting their initiatives, sometimes in conjunction with other cultural, social, or festive groups in Benidorm, thus generating contacts that contribute to building the city."
