Public Space department renews the asphalting of República Argentina and Costa Rica avenues
Benidorm City Council today completes the renovation of all the asphalting of República Argentina and Costa Rica avenues, two of the main roads that connect the upper part of Poniente with the beachfront. The mayor, Toni Pérez, together with the councilor for Public Space, José Ramón González de Zárate, have visited the development of these works, included in the project 'Improvement of road security and accessibility 2020' with which in the next two months more than 25 actions will be carried out in 40 streets of the city, with special emphasis on the neighborhoods of La Cala and Rincón de Loix
The mayor explained that “we are talking about fundamental links for the city's transit”, since “in addition to connecting Alcalde Vicente Pérez Devesa avenue with Armada Española avenue, they also serve very important residential areas of Benidorm” around Xixo avenue . Toni Pérez recalled that both avenues are “about 40 years old”, a period in which “there had never been an intervention of this depth”, with which accessibility is also gained by having increased the asphalt layer by reducing thus the height of the curbs.
Toni Pérez highlighted that República Argentina and Costa Rica avenues are “links that are acquiring more value, especially after the opening of the new roads of the Unit of Action 1 Poniente and due to their correlation with the development of those projected in the Plan Partial 2/1 Poniente, around which new public spaces will be created ”.
Finally, he pointed out that, given "the low mobility of residents and tourists", it is "the optimal moment" to develop this and the rest of the actions contemplated in the project of "Improvement of road security and accessibility 2020". A project with which “we treat public roads throughout the city with great sensitivity”, especially “those that register a heavier traffic” and which were pending updating.
