Those interested in participating may submit a maximum of two works, in the category of Painting or Sculpture, before December 30
Youth announces a new edition of the New Creators Competition
Benidorm City Council's Youth Department has announced the 37th edition of the New Artists Competition in the Painting and Sculpture categories, and the rules have already been published. The competition, as usual, is "open to participation by young people between the ages of 14 and 35 who wish to participate, regardless of whether they live in Benidorm or not, and which aims to foster talent and creativity," as stated by the Councillor for the department, Ana Soliveres.
As in previous editions, works submitted to the competition must be original and unpublished, using a variety of techniques, dimensions, and themes. However, in the case of paintings, these must be presented ready to be hung in the exhibition. Both paintings and sculptures must be accompanied by the artist's full name, ID number, age, address, telephone number, and title. Each contestant may submit a maximum of two works.
The submission period for entries to the competition is now open and will run until December 30th. Original entries must be submitted to the Youth Council, either in person or by mail, although the rules stipulate that any shipping and/or return costs will be borne by the participants.
Once the submission period has closed, an exhibition of all submitted works will take place at the City Hall's Espai d'Art from March 2nd to 27th, 2026. There, in addition to being viewed by the public, they will be considered by the jury, appointed by the Youth Council and responsible for selecting the winners. The winners will be announced on the last day of the exhibition, March 27th, at 12:30 p.m.
The rules establish that a single prize of €1,000 will be awarded for the Painting category and another €1,000 for the Sculpture category. The winning works will also become the property of the City Council. There will also be a special prize of €100 for the best painting or sculpture created by a creator under the age of 18.
Councillor Ana Soliveres encouraged "all young people with artistic interests to participate in this competition, a contest that has now been held for 37 years and is fully established." She also stated that "Benidorm is fortunate to be able to support talented and creative young people, especially at an early stage, and to be able to encourage them to continue creating."
