The XVI Popular Swiming Crossing, L'Illa-Port Benidorm, will gather on Sunday 350 participants
The crossing, 2 nautical miles, will be supervised by a large security device and volunteers
The Councilor for Sports of Benidorm, Arturo Cabrillo, has presented today the 'XVI Popular Swimming Crossing to L'Illa-Port Benidorm, to be held on Sunday 27 August and which will involve 350 swimmers, maximum quota authorized by the Municipal organization. The councillor has been accompanied by Jesús Carlos La Calle, maritime inspector of the Local Police and coordinator of security of the test.
Cabrillo said that "it is a test that every year enjoys more prestige and greater appeal" and stressed that, in addition to local swimmers, "there are swimmers from the autonomous communities of Catalonia, Castilla La Mancha, Madrid, Murcia, Basque Country and Valencia, as well as representatives from Italy and the United Kingdom. "
In total there are 350 registered, from which 250 are men and 100 women. There are a total of 60 local swimmers and 8 of the participants are disabled. The Finisher Sports Club of Benidorm has the highest number of members with a total of 19, followed by the Club Deportivo Aguaviva Benidorm with 18 inscribers.
The concentration of swimmers will be at 7:00 am at the facilities of Club Naútico, to embark later on the swallow at 7:45. The departure will take place around 8:15 hours from I'Illa, to cover a distance of 2 nautical miles to the goal located on the Beach of Mal Pas.
