The XIII Spoon Days, the first date on Benidorm Gastronomic 2025 calendar

18 February 2025
Las XIII Jornadas de la Cuchara, primera cita en el calendario del Benidorm Gastronómico 2025

Licinio García, from ConBrassa group, will act as a godfather of the local gastronomy this year

A total of 16 restaurants in Benidorm will kick off Benidorm Gastronómico 2025 this Friday, which, as is tradition, will begin with the XIII Jornadas de la Cuchara, a classic in the local gastronomic calendar that is consolidated every year and enjoys greater acceptance among residents and tourists. The municipal building of El Torrejó has hosted this Tuesday the presentation of this first event of the annual calendar, which will run from February 21 to March 2. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has participated in the presentation of these days together with Javier del Castillo, president of Abreca, and the godfather of Benidorm Gastronómico 2024, Juan Fernández, from the restaurant El Esturión, who has handed over the baton to Licinio García, from the ConBrassa group, and who will be the godfather of local gastronomy during 2025.

La Arrocería La Marina, Bolikki, Club Náutico Benidorm, El Linaje De Castilla, El Mesón. El Esturión, Jardín Mediterráneo, Brasería Aurrera, La Cava Aragonesa, La Fava, La Pinta Beach, La Tapería, Mal Pas, Malaspina, Marisquería El Puerto, and Taberna Andaluza are the 16 establishments participating in these events, four more than in the previous edition. Diners can sample elaborate menus with a starter, a traditional spoon dish, a drink, and a dessert for a single price of 25 euros.

“We are on the threshold of events that are not only consolidated year after year by offering the best of our kitchens, but this year they also break a record for participation and expand the offer so that there are more of us who can enjoy every one of the proposals,” said the mayor. Toni Pérez also stated that these days “are a unique moment to taste some dishes that are not usual on the menus” of many of these establishments, so he considered that “we are facing an opportunity that we cannot miss.

In addition to highlighting the culinary wealth of Benidorm, the mayor also congratulated Licinio García as the godfather of Benidorm Gastronómico 2025. He highlighted the commitment of ConBrassa group for its six establishments in the city that “have contributed decisively to Benidorm's gastronomy gaining visibility and being increasingly recognized for its quality and excellence.”

Toni Pérez also highlighted that Benidorm Gastronómico “has already transcended the borders of our city and our region for some time now, attracting visitors from all over the province at every event, thanks to the collaboration, tenacity and commitment of Abreca to continue to innovate constantly, improving every day and giving visibility to the quality of our catering.”

Finally, he recalled that “this year is going to be very special because we are commemorating the 700th anniversary of Benidorm” and revealed that “Abreca has been the first association to tell us to join them to make this commemoration even bigger, on the same day that the Commission was established, with activities that will be announced shortly and that fit perfectly with the objectives of the Commission.”

The president of Abreca, Javier del Castillo, said: “Benidorm is beaches and flavour.” “We are starting this week with record-breaking Jornadas de la Cuchara in terms of the number of participating establishments, a day that also reminds us of the spoon, of our mothers and grandmothers,” and he invited the public to “come and enjoy every one of the dishes.”

Finally, the godfather of Benidorm Gastronómico 2025, Licinio García, thanked the fact that “after 40 years in the world of catering, Abreca and the City Council have thought of me as a godfather” and hoped that “the public will enjoy these Jornadas de la Cuchara and the rest of the events on the calendar, which provide a plus to the city as a destination”.

After these ‘XIII Spoon Days’, the next event on the Benidorm Gastronómico 2025 calendar will be the ‘V Tuna Days’, which will take place from April 4 to 13. The programme will continue with the ‘XV Tapas and Pinchos Contest’, from June 20 to 29. In September, from the 19th to the 28th, you can taste the different proposals of the 'IV Cocktail Contest', while from the 17th to the 26th of October, rice dishes will take centre stage with the 'XIV Rice Days'.
