In this phase of the project work is carried out on Puente Street and Plaza de la Hispanidad, where the "Gordian knot" of the water network of Benidorm is located and which will be ready for Easter
The works on Mediterráneo Avenue are already focused on the replacement of hydraulic infrastructures
The works of the first phase of remodeling of Mediterráneo Avenue center at the moment in the substitution of the hydraulic infrastructures that are located in the street Bridge and the Plaza de la Hispanidad, and that constitute the "Gordian knot" of the network Benidorm water: sanitation, potable water, and rainwater.
So it has been moved today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who has assured that "this first stage of the work has a very powerful intervention in the basement of Puente Street and Plaza de la Hispanidad" and "it is the most complex", since the substitution of all the infrastructure must be done "without affecting the normal functioning" of the water network, which even in moments of low season moves very important volumes of water. In addition, "you work in an area with a very low water table", since the sea water is appearing at just over three meters deep.
Pérez has traveled around the area to know how the work is progressing, along with the councilor of Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, several members of the corporation, and municipal technicians and the construction company.
The mayor has indicated that "they are meeting the deadlines and the work is developing normally," and has indicated that if there are no setbacks this first stage of the project "will be completed for Holy Week", at which time the Plaza de la Hispanidad and Puente and Valencia streets will be completely renovated, as will the hydraulic infrastructures of this section. In this first stage is included the placement of the 'techno milestone' of 23 meters, in whose foundations -which will be made at the same depth- will begin to work in the coming weeks.
In this first phase, it is also acting in the parking space and outside lane of the so-called 'South Zone' of Mediterráneo Av., the closest to the beach. Pérez stressed that at the request of the City Council, "the company responsible for the project has made the work as walkable as possible and allow all commercial activity."
"The important thing - he has indicated - is that the deadlines are met, that everything goes well as it is going to this day, and that the activity of the city continues while the most important public work in the history of Benidorm is being carried out" .
A comprehensive remodeling project that involves an investment of 11.4 million euros that will allow action on the section of the avenue of the Mediterranean that runs between the Puente street and the Europa avenue, as well as in the latter and in the adjacent streets pending remodeling.
Phases of the work
Phase 1: Bridge St.; Hispanidad Square; ValenciaSt.; South Zone -actuations in parking and outside lane-. This is the most complex phase because it affects the network of collectors and includes the foundation for the 'tecnohito'. This phase will last approximately until Easter.
Phase 2: Median central and interior lanes of Mediterráneo Av. and Hispanidad Square continuity. It will start when you are still working on the first phase, so both will overlap for several weeks. Its execution is estimated within a maximum period of one and a half months.
Phase 3: Future infrastructures and pavements on the north side of Mediterráneo Av.; and infrastructure in Esperanto street. Works will be block to block.
Phase 4: Future infrastructures and pavements on the southern side of Mediterráneo Av..
