The City Council explains to merchants and neighbors details of the project and the technicians handle the forecast of advancing the term of execution of 5 months
The works of the III Phase of Tomás Ortuño could be completed before Easter
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has headed this morning the municipal commission that has met with merchants and residents of Tomás Ortuño Street and adjacent, to explain the scope of the III phase of the comprehensive renovation of this downtown road, as well as the improvements planned for Carrasco Street and its surroundings. Pablo García, technical director of Sigma Infraestructuras, the company awarded the contract, attended the event; Vicente Mayor, municipal engineer, in addition to other technicians and members of the Municipal Corporation.
The meeting took place in the Assembly Hall of Casa del Fester and has been addressed to the communities of owners and businesses that will be affected by the development and renovation of infrastructures, mainly water, on Carrasco and Tomás Ortuño streets, in the section between Marte and Limones streets.
The term of execution of the work, whose base budget of execution is 477,881 euros, is five months but the forecast managed by the technicians is that it may be finalized before the next celebration of Holy Week.
As in the previous phases of the renovation and pedestrianization of Tomás Ortuño, the works include improvements both in the subsoil and on the surface of the road. Along with the renewal of the water network, necessary to ensure its proper functioning, the works contemplate new paving and the widening of sidewalks to favor a better pedestrian traffic. The improvements are also planned for Carrasco Street, as well as the renovation of infrastructures on Venus Street.
The mayor stressed that this work "comes to complete a very ambitious project" that with the passage of time has been improving and varying taking into account the cultural changes that are taking place in Benidorm with respect to mobility, always oriented towards pedestrianization or semi-pedestrianization of the Urban Center.
The meeting has served to explain in detail the project and the planning that has been made of the work. In the case of the III Phase of Tomás Ortuño, the first mayor explained that it will have exactly the same aesthetic applied to the two previous sections of the road, and that it was born in Calle Mercado until the intersection of Calle Limones, although in this section, and due to its semi-pedestrian character, this section will be equipped with bollards. First it will be acted on Carrasco Street and once finished and allowing the passage from Limones to Ruzafa, Tomás Ortuño will be acted, until the junction of Venus-Marte streets. Improvement works are also planned on San Juan Bautista and Buen Pastor streets.
