This project designed by the City Council has been funded with FEDER funds
The works of the 'Cyclist Ring' arrive at Bernat de Sarrià and shortly to Europa avenue
The works of execution of the 'Cyclist Ring' of Levant have already reached Almirall Bernat de Sarrià avenue and in the coming weeks they will also do it to Europa avenue. At this moment, about 60% of the project has already been carried out, financed by Benidorm City Council and by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the Operational Program of the Valencian Community for the 2014 period. -2020.
The Councilor for Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, recalled that "with this project we created 11 new kilometers of bike lanes that are added to the bicycle network of Benidorm". The lanes that are projected with this work cover the route from the roundabout of the European Community with Europe to the Hermitage of Sanz, through the old N-332, and link with the section made by the Provincial Council of Alicante in the CV-753, the road that connects with l'Albir.
The 'Cyclist Ring' will run through the avenues: Europa, Ametlla del Mar, Severo Ochoa, Estocolmo, Monte Carlo, Almirall Bernat de Sarriá and Comunidad Valenciana. In this last one, the works are practically finished. The project is completed with a series of connection branches that will run through the streets of Ibiza, Romania, Marseille and Naples, in which the cycle path model will be implemented.
In addition to the works on the roads, the project includes the installation of new lighting and signaling systems.
For the execution of this project, valued at 984,128.36 euros, the City Council obtained a grant of 406,664.61 euros from FEDER funds. With these new 11 kilometers, Benidorm will reach 80 kilometers of bike lanes and cycle paths.
