The ‘Violet Point’ begins an itinerant action aound highschools for the Local Fiestas
The "Violet Points" are spaces of awareness, information, attention and help to victims of any type of sexist aggression. Its purpose is to prevent and raise awareness to ensure the greatest enjoyment of any festive activity avoiding any type of macho attitude towards women in general.
Under that premise, the Department of Equality will launch next week an itinerant action by the secondary schools of Benidorm announcing, explained the councilor Ángela Zaragozí, “the existence of these points, the purpose of them and the most elementary norms of detection of sexist attitudes ”.
From November 4 to 8, the “Violet Point” will travel to each of the five secondary schools in Benidorm and at recess time and will offer personalized information and graphic material to the students of the centers. On Monday 4, from 10:30 to 11:30 hours, at IES Bernat de Sarriá; on Tuesday 5, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at IES Beatriu Fajardo de Mendoza; on Wednesday 6, from 10:30 to 11:30 hours, at IES Almadrava; on Thursday 7, at the same time, at IES Pere Maria Orts and Bosch; and on Friday 8, also from 10’30 to 11’30 hours, at IES Mediterània.
In contact with the Department of Education led by Maite Moreno, from the Department of Equality, it has insisted on having the collaboration of teachers to raise awareness before the appearance of the "Violet Point" in each center.
Ángela Zaragozí highlighted “the importance of visualizing the indication of the violet point among the youngest ones” and “the importance of this first contact with the 'Violet Point' being in a place that inspires students so much confidence, such as own center and the partners ”.
