The V edition of the Nationalities Day is celebrated on Saturday in l'Aigüera Park

31 October 2017
La V edició del Dia de les Nacionalitats se celebra el dissabte en el Parc de l'Aigüera

Under the slogan 'Somos Benidorm, We are Benidorm', 30 stands of 19 different nationalities will be installed

This noon the fifth edition of the 'Nationalities Day' has been presented to be held on Saturday, November 4, from 12.00 in l'Aigüera Park inv  Benidorm, organized by the Department of Citizen Participation with the Neighborhood Council collaboration.

The councilwoman of the area, María Jesús Pinto, accompanied by the members of the Neighborhood Council Christian Corraini, Carlos Casteluccio and Teresa Garrido has announced that this year's edition "19 countries will participate, with a total of 30 exhibitors" under the motto ' Somos Benidorm, We Are Benidorm ', will be located along l'Aigüera Park. On that day you can enjoy a selection of "typical products and crafts" and an institutional act at the Auditorium 'Óscar Esplá' with folkloric performances from the participating countries.

"It's - said Pinto - a playful and convivial day, a party that represents the 106 nationalities that live in Benidorm" with which it is intended to celebrate "the plural and multi-ethnic character of our city." This year there will be stands from Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Chile, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, United Kingdom, Morocco, Peru, Romania, Russia, Venezuela, Uruguay and Paraguay.

For his part, Christian Corraini has pointed out the enormous effort involved in organizing the event. "It's two months of preparations that are rewarded for success" and he recalled that last year "more than 2,000 people came", he also stressed that, among the stands present, there will be one of the Civic Platform for Support the EDUSI (Strategy for Sustainable and Integral Urban Development) that will make the project known to all the people who come to it.

Carlos Casteluccio has argued that "it is a festival that is done with a lot of love" because Benidorm "has welcomed migrants so well that everyone wants to participate". One of the most endearing events of the event is the homage paid by the Neighborhood Council and the participating groups to a neighbor of Benidorm who hails from these countries. Precisely, this morning, María Jesús Pinto has announced the name of this person who this year will be the same Carlos Casteluccio who, sensibly moved, thanked the City Council, the mayor and his colleagues for the distinction

Finally, Teresa Garrido, on behalf of the entire Neighborhood Council has made an appeal and has invited "all associations, groups and the general public to spend a wonderful day with us."
