Typical products, traditional dances and games, this weekend at the Fira de Pasqua organized by the Commissio de Festes Patronals
The fair, which will have around 35 stalls, will be installed in the streets Gambo and Martinez Alejos
The Commision of Festes Majors Patronals, in collaboration with the departments of Festivals and Culture, celebrates this weekend the Fira de Pasqua, a fair of typical products, in which you can also see exhibitions of traditional dances and popular games and in which there will also be tasting of some dishes of the native gastronomy.
The councilor of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles, and the president of the Commission, Antonio Vicente Fuster, have explained that "this is the first time that the members of the Commision of Fiestas organize the Fira de Pasqua", and with that it supplements the one that had to be suspended at Christmas because of the "strong rainfall" that occurred on December 16 and 17.
Fuster has detailed that the Fira, which will open on Saturday, April 8 at 11:30 p.m., will be installed in the streets Gambo and Martínez Alejos, where there will be around 35 seats. In these positions may be purchased "traditional products like oils, sweet wine, Easter candies, bakery, chocolates or honey.
After the inauguration, a group of 'traditional dances' will be performed like the 'muixeranga' and other dances with 'xirimita i tabalet'.
The councilman of Fiestas has indicated that the date chosen by the Commission of Festes Majors Patronals to hold a postponed Christmas fair is "interesting" and "a success", since it coincides "with the beginning of Holy Week" and the arrival of the first tourists to Benidorm.
Carrobles has encouraged residents and visitors to "collaborate with the Comission", to "enjoy and spend a different weekend" in this fair, and to "buy typical products of Benidorm and the region."
Sale of palms
The president of the Commission has pointed out that one of the products to be sold at the Fira will be "the traditional palms for the procession of the Palm Sunday," which will take place this Sunday, April 9. Fuster recalled that the members of the commision have already begun the sale of these palms in two parts of the city: La Palmera and in front of Boca Calvari Museum. Also, Wednesday will also have a point of sale in the street market.
