It will be at the City Hall, in the morning and afternoon, and supporters and members of the general public are invited
This Tuesday, the Penyes Association organizes a solidarity day of blood donation
Once again this year, the Penyes Association will show its solidarity side in a blood donation day organized by the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge in collaboration with the Transfusion Center of the Valencian Community and with the support of the Department of Festivals. The councillor of the department, Mariló Cebreros, and the president of the Association, Jaume Cortés, reported that this donation day, the 'Festa de la Solidaritat', will be tomorrow, Tuesday, May 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It will take place at Benidorm City Hall, where professionals from the Transfusion Center will travel to attend to all those who come to donate.
Cebreros pointed out that "ample hours have been sought to make it as easy as possible for club members and the general population to participate in this solidarity initiative whose purpose is to save lives." Thus, she recalled that "with a blood donation you can save up to three lives" and she was convinced that "once again the Penyes Association and Benidorm will devote themselves to this donation day, thus demonstrating their most altruistic and supportive side."
Likewise, the Councilor for Festivals has pointed out that "the experience of previous years confirms that these events are always an opportunity to attract new donors who subsequently attend other calls that the Transfusion Center periodically carries out since the needs of blood are maintained throughout the year.” Every day in the Valencian Community, 250 units of blood are needed to meet the demand of hospitals, especially for cancer patients but also for people who are victims of traffic accidents or who suffer blood loss from surgery.
The only requirements to be able to donate are to be between 18 and 65 years old, be in good health, come to the appointment well-hydrated, weigh more than 50 kilograms and have an ID or driver's license. Once the donation is made, participants will receive food and drinks to regain strength.
Finally, Mariló Cebreros and Jaume Cortés invited supporters and the general population to “attend this event with solidarity.”
