TM Benidorm will play tomorrow to access the final phase of Copa del Rey handball
The TM Benidorm club will play tomorrow for its place in the final phase of the His Majesty the King Handball Cup. The match, against Rebi BM Cuenca, will be played at the Palau d'Esports l'Illa in Benidorm at 7:30 p.m. and in the run-up to it, there will be a tribute to the founder of the Lope de Vega International School, Juan Fuster Zaragoza, on the occasion of the centenary of his birth.
For this reason, a press conference was held today to present the sporting event in which the Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, invited “everyone” to attend the “transcendent match” because “we want to win it to be among the eight best teams that compete in this Copa del Rey.”
In addition to the sporting reasons surrounding the match, the president of the entity, Jacobo Balongo, specified that "we will dedicate the match to Juan Fuster Zaragoza, founder of Lope de Vega school since this year it is celebrated one hundred years since his birth". Balongo has indicated that the first intention was to hold a tribute match, but the idea has been postponed. “Now we want to have a big party and that's why we invite everyone to come because we want the pavilion full to cheer on the team.”
Vicente Fuster, manager of Lope de Vega and son of the founder, recalled in his speech “Juan Fuster's connection with Benidorm sport over the years”, with the transfer of facilities and organization of events and also with the granting of four sports scholarships and sponsoring clubs and sporting events.
Jacobo Balongo, finally, has detailed some ins and outs of the tribute that will be held tomorrow, "with the match dedicated to him, the interpretation of the Lope de Vega anthem during the presentation of the players and the delivery of a present to his son before the start of the meeting.”
