TM Benidorm Handball Club presents all its teams before starting the 2023-24 season
The TM Benidorm Handball Club presented this morning at Palau d'Esports the teams that make up the entity for the 2023-24 season, which is about to begin. In total, around 200 male and female players, more than 160 correspond to the lower categories, which continue to grow yearly.
The event was attended by the mayor of Benidorm and president of the Alicante Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, the regional deputy José Ramón González de Zárate, the Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordá, and members of the local corporation.
The presentation began with the signing of the sponsorship agreement between the club and the TM group, the main sponsor, and continued with the staging of all the teams on the parquet of the pavilion.
After that, the president of the entity, Jacobo Balongo, intervened, saying that a season is beginning “with many dreams to fulfill.” “Today a new stage begins, but you are the club,” he told the players. Balongo has indicated that “effort, sacrifice, and camaraderie are the hallmarks of identity” and that “the elders are the mirror of the younger ones.”
This season will be “special” because it is the tenth year of the first team in the Asobal League. For this reason, the president wanted to thank all the entity's sponsors one by one "because the club could not survive without you." In addition, the club's intention to create an inclusive handball team has advanced.
Balongo also had words of gratitude towards the City Council “because this would not be possible without you. Thank you, Mayor.” After listing the sponsors and collaborators, the club president addressed all the members of the entity "to thank you for your selfless work."
He also remembered the club's founders, the fans, and, especially, the previous president, Javier Abinzano, for whom he demanded great applause "for his great work and dedication all these years."
For his part, Mayor Toni Pérez wished “the best of luck for all the teams” and stated that TM Benidorm “is the identity of a club, one of the youngest in the city and that it is a benchmark.”. Pérez expressed “My best wishes for you and know that the fans will wish you the best. I wish you and look forward to a great season.”
Subsequently, after the presentation of the mascots Delfi and Panda, the quarry teams took center stage, leaving for last the main course with the women's group that plays in the Silver Honor Division, with Carlos Esteve at the helm, and the first team, which will complete its tenth season in Asobal, with Sergio Carballeira as a coach.
The party concluded with a dance show by students from Boogie Block Urban Dance Academy and traditional family photos joined by the Queens and Ladies of the Festes Majors Patronals, also present at the event.
