Thousands of people crowd together along the tour to enjoy the parade

The threat of rain cannot stop the "Pride" of Benidorm

07 September 2019
La amenaza de lluvia no puede con el ‘Orgullo’ de Benidorm

This afternoon has taken place the most massive event of the Week of Pride in Benidorm, the parade of floats ‘The Parade’ that has been held, despite the threat of rain, in a festive and vindictive atmosphere. Shortly after 5 pm, the ride in which more than 300 members have participated, has departed from the Rincon de Loix to arrive, after 8 pm, at the Julio Iglesias Auditorium of the Parque de l'Aigüera, after touring the entire Paseo of Levante.

Thousands of people have gathered along the route to enjoy the scenery of LGTBI collectives and the fifteen floats sponsored by the establishments that support Pride Week. The Councilor for Events, Jesús Carrobles, the councillor of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, have accompanied the parade during part of the final tour.

Once at Julio Iglesias, Pride Week activities continue with the T-Dance party, the live show and 'performance' of MariquitaPop, the performance of local groups with tributes to the great iconic figures of the LGTBI movement and local DJs .

Sexual health point

At the end of the tour of 'The Parade', the Department of Equality has installed a Sexual Health Point, together with the Department of Health of the Marina Baixa, the Coordinator of Associations for the Fight against AIDS of the Valencian Community (CALCSICOVA) and the Alicante Citizen Association for HIV (ACAVIH) in which it has been possible to collect information on sexual health or perform anonymous and rapid HIV tests, thanks to the collaboration of the College of Pharmacists of the Province of Alicante (COFA).
