Meter by meter, the Euro Marathon raises funds for Festes Majors Patronals
At 11.00 in the morning, the Euro Marathon was launched at Alameda street, an initiative of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals of Benidorm that aims to raise funds for the November festivities and which consists of making a tour with coins on a ribbon that runs through the old town.
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; members of the three groups with representation in the corporation and the national deputy of Benidorm, Agustín Almodóbar; have participated to support the Comissió: the queens Marina Carrillo and Paula Mayor; the president, Roberto Carretero; and to all the members of the fiestas commission who, throughout the day will remain stationed in Alameda street, collecting the voluntary contributions of the passers-by.
On the day, the queens and their ladies will tour the shops of the center encouraging participation. However, the Comissió has already 'travelled' quite a few meters of this race with 'Un metre per la festa', an initiative to which businesses, clubs and social associations have joined contributing with the initiative.
At the same time, the Comissió has installed a bar with sandwiches and soft drinks at popular prices at the confluence of Alameda with Paseo de la Carretera, another way to encourage participation in the party.
