Extraordinary campaign of donation of blood in the Palau of the Sports and Health department
Next Thursday and Friday, 19 and 20 October, there will be a solidarity campaign of blood donation at Palau d'Esports l'Illa in Benidorm, from 17.30 to 21.00 hours, addressed to the clubs and sports organizations of Benidorm, organized by the councils of Sports and Health, in collaboration with the delegation in Alicante of the Center of Transfusions of the Valencian Comunitat.
The Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, along with the technique of the Department of Promotion of the Center in Alicante, Inmaculada Ronda; the promoter delegated in Las Marinas, Encarna Martínez; and the coordinator of the Department of Health, Francisco Candel, have presented this morning these two days and has made a "call to solidarity" addressed "to all clubs, sports entities of Benidorm and the general public" to participate in what they have defined as a "disinterested act of altruism and generosity."
Inmaculada Ronda has indicated that daily, in Alicante, "more than 250 units a day" are needed to cover the demand of hospitals and health centers and that the donation of blood "is only 20 minutes." She also thanked the City Council for organizing this solidarity campaign because it is an "opportunity to reach more people" and has emphasized that "every donation can save three lives." For his part, Encarna Martínez, has been convinced that the sportsmen of Benidorm will come "to give life", as they have always done and has proposed the organization of events like this in the city twice a year.
On the other hand, Francisco Candel has influenced the effort that is made from the Department of Health to "make people aware of the donation" and has certified that "the number of donors is increasing" in the city thanks to periodicals calls that are carried out from public health and solidarity and non-profit organizations of Benidorm.
For the occasion, there have been published information posters in the two official languages that have been distributed in official centers, sports clubs and associations. It should be remembered that, to be a donor, you must be of age and under 65, weigh more than 50 kilos and have good health. Males can donate up to three times a year; the women, two. Donors are reminded that they must come in for breakfast and well hydrated, in addition it is necessary to identify themselves with the DNI. Each donor will then be offered a snack and given a lightweight backpack.
