El Skyline Benidorm Film Festival programa tres talleres de producción de ‘cortos’, ‘stop motion’ y géneros de cine

The organization of Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, which takes place from April 4 to 7, has scheduled three workshops aimed at young people with the film as the protagonist. Specifically, it will develop a workshop for the production of short films, another for 'stop motion' and a third on film genres. These three workshops will be held at the El Torrejó Municipal Center.

The councilor of Culture, Ana Pellicer, and the director of the festival, Beatriz Hernández, have indicated that "in addition to the quality of the selected short films, the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has as an added value to offer film lovers an opportunity to perform other leisure activities linked to this one ". "Within that complementary programming - they have indicated -, the young people have a leading role with didactic and leisure activities aimed at enhancing their creativity and helping them to know and understand the cinematographic language better".

The three workshops will be taught by professionals of the audiovisual sector. On Thursday April 4 at noon will take place the workshop 'Learning to see cinema: film genres', aimed at students and teachers of Secondary Education and will be borne by the film critic Juan Carlos Gascón, a graduate in Geography and History by the Complutense University of Madrid and Master in Dramatic Art by the University of Alicante. In this workshop attendees will dive into the origins of cinema and its genres, addressing issues such as language, beauty and history behind each film

On Saturday, the 6th, at 12.30 the 'Initiation to the production of short films' workshop will be held, given by Pepe Jordana, producer of a score of short films that accumulate more than 300 festival awards. In this workshop, and for two hours, Jordana will explain to the participants the whole process of creating a short film, from the making of the script to its distribution in festivals, internet and television.

The last workshop, the 'Stop Motion', will be on Saturday at 5.30 pm and will be run by the animator and winner of two Goyas Pablo Llorens, who will teach participants from 5 to 10 years approximately how to animate and give movement to a doll created with plasticine. In addition, participants will take home a small film of their own made during the workshop.

Those interested in participating in any of the workshops can register at info@skylinefest.es. The first two workshops are free, while the 'Stop Motion' has a cost of 7 euros.

A total of 300 short films have been presented to this third edition of Skyline Benidorm Film Festival. After visualizing all the pieces, the programmers of the contest have chosen the 25 short films that will compete in the three contest categories: Best Documentary, National Fiction and Valencian Short Films. Besides the payment for selection of 200 euros, the festival will give four awards: the best short film, which will receive 550 euros; and three prizes of 350 euros for the best Valencian short, the best documentary and for the best script. There is also a prize for the best short film made by students: a distribution bonus in charge of Movibeta platform, which will allow them to send their work to national and international festivals.
