This afternoon the Mare de Déu del Sofratge processions around the streets of Benidorm
Six minutes of pure adrenaline in the first firing of rockets of Festes Majors Patronals
The second day of the Festes Majors Patronals 2022 began very early, with a hot chocolate, after 9:00 a.m., in the Comissió tnet, installed at Plaza de Sus Majestades Los Reyes de España. In the same place, at 11:00 a large playground for boys and girls has been installed.
Shortly before noon, the Parish Church of Sant Jaume and Santa Anna hosted a mass in honor of the perpetual mayor of the city, the Mare de Déu del Sofratge, which was attended by the mayor, Toni Pérez, the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles and most of the city councillors. The religious ceremony was also attended by the national deputy, Agustín Almodóbar; the regional, Manuel Pérez Fenoll; and the provincial, José Ramón González de Zárate, who have supported the queens Aila Merenciano and Chloé D'Hebboudt and their court of honor along with the presidents of the Comissió and the Association of Penyes 'Verge del Sofratge', José Vicente Fuster and Adrián Romero, standard-bearer, foremen and foremen of honor.
After the religious act, the traditional aerial bombardment and parade to Avenida Jaime I, where a spectacular mascletà of 200 kg of gunpowder, dedicated to the patron saint, was fired by Ricardo Caballer's pyrotechnics, Ricasa.
They have been six intense minutes in which the adrenaline ran through the veins of the thousands of people gathered in front of Paseo de Poniente who have applauded the effort made by the Comissió this year. The highlight of the show came when a large carcass filled the sky of the avenue with white and blue smoke, the colors of the Benidorm festivities.
This afternoon the acts dedicated to the Mare de Déu del Sofratge will continue. A solemn procession will depart at 7:30 p.m. from Calle Mayor to go along Alameda, Los Angeles, and Doctor Pérez Martorell streets, Martínez Alejos Avenue, Paseo de la Carretera, and Santa Faz and Mal Pas streets to end before the church at Plaça de Sant Jaume.
