The objective in future editions is to make the contest more known in the Spanish universities of Fine Arts
Sergio Rocafort, Denislav Mitkov and Gabriela Labella, winners of the XXIII Contest of New Creators of Benidorm
This noon the names of the winners of the thirty-third edition of the Contest for New Creators of Painting and Sculpture 2021, organized by the Department of Youth of Benidorm City Council and in which 15 young artists, 11 women and 4 men, whose work has been exhibited in recent weeks at the Espai d'Art of Benidorm City Hall.
Sergio Rocafort Giménez has been the winner of the first prize for painting, endowed with one thousand euros, with his work 'El Resistencia'; Denislav Mitkov Delchev has won the thousand euros of the sculpture prize with his work 'Shelter VI against the 21st century, and Gabriela Labella López has obtained the 100 euros prize for the work of an author or author under 18 years of age for her work 'Bad Fame'.
The Councilor for Youth, Jaime Jesús Pérez, has highlighted the increase in participation "after two difficult years due to the pandemic situation" while announcing that "for future editions, we want to make this contest more known in universities of Fine Arts from all over Spain to encourage the participation of young artists”.
Pérez has also highlighted the majority of women artists among this year's participants, as well as the varied origin of all of them; both from the region, as well as from the Valencian Community and different corners of Spain such as Zaragoza, Salamanca, Lleida or Boadilla del Monte, among others.
