The ribbon and the island of Benidorm, protagonists of the new Anemona solidarity t-shirt to support breast cancer patients
Anémona Marina Baixa, the self-help group for women with breast and gynaecological cancer in Benidorm and the region, presented this Wednesday at Benidorm City Hall its solidarity t-shirt for the great march that will be held in the city on October 20, within the commemorative events for International Breast Cancer Day. The island of Benidorm and the pink ribbon that symbolizes the fight against this disease are the two elements that star, once again, in this garment, which can now be purchased for 12 euros at the Anémona headquarters located on La Biga Street and in all the activities organized by this association, such as the Dinner on July 13, which will also be joined shortly by other collaborating establishments and sponsors.
The president of Anémona, María Botella, was in charge of presenting the design at a press conference in which she was accompanied by the councillors of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí; of Health, Ana Pellicer; and Sports, Javier Jordá, as well as Mari Carmen Zaragoza, who was in charge of the design, and Antonio López representing the sponsors of this twenty-second edition of the Solidarity March against breast cancer.
In addition to the ribbon and the island, the shirt maintains the pink colour that identifies the fight against this type of cancer. However this year the typography and colour of the letters have been modified, which will be blue to contrast with the background. pink, as Mari Carmen Zaragoza explained. The sizing will range from size 18 months to 3XL, to cover the widest possible spectrum of the public, whether or not they participate in the March on October 20.
“The objective is to sell the greatest number of t-shirts,” María Botella explained, later explaining that the money obtained from the sale “serves to self-finance many of the activities” that the association provides, both therapeutic and support to women who go through breast or gynaecological cancer, as well as to support research against this disease. “Much of what we do to help colleagues who are going through a delicate moment can be carried out thanks to the support of citizens and sponsors,” stated the president of Anémona, who also added that the other leg of The entity's financing comes 40-45% from agreements and subsidies.
Likewise, Botella thanked the City Council for “its unconditional support, because we are aware that the organization of the march entails a considerable effort, because we have to close streets, reorganize traffic and coordinate many people, but they are always by our side and everything works out.” embroidery".
For their part, the councillors who have accompanied Anémona in this presentation have conveyed to the members of Anémona “all the municipal support so that this march, as is tradition, is a success” and have invited citizens to “begin to buy these t-shirts that have been presented to us today” to “turn Benidorm pink again” next October.
Likewise, they have applauded this organisation's work “to make difficult things easy.” The acting mayor, Ana Pellicer, has explained that “on the path that for a woman it may be that they give you news such as a diagnosis of cancer, they hold your hand and accompany you, providing support, making the disease visible and helping to invest and investigate.”
For their part, Ángela Zaragozí and Javier Jordá have recalled that, before the date of this march arrives, on July 13 Anémona will celebrate its traditional summer dinner, to raise funds, and they have encouraged citizens to also collaborate by purchasing tickets.
