In fifteen days, Citizen Participation department will summon the neighbors to inform in detail about the modification of the Mobility Ordinance

Residents in Colonia Madrid value positively the actions in their neighborhood

27 August 2020
Los vecinos de la Colonia Madrid valoran positivamente las actuaciones en su barrio

The residents of Colonia Madrid have been able to meet today Thursday with their representatives at City Hall. The people responsible for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer, and Obras, José Ramón González de Zárate, together with the vice-presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario, participated in the meeting.

The meeting, which began in the Municipal Warehouse on Avenida de Beniardà, has moved to the nearby Polop street, which, let us remember, a few days ago, concluded the redevelopment works that have involved the total renovation of the road.

Ana Pellicer recalled the visit, days ago, of the President of the Provincial Council, Carlos Mazón, to Polop Street, and thanked the provincial entity for its investment, which represented more than 85% of the total amount, 143,000 euros. "It is clear - he pointed out - the performance in terms of the urban scene", highlighting the new paving or the ornamentation or wooded elements, "which is seen at first glance". The mayor has emphasized the importance of action in the subsoil, new water pipes, or electricity, fiber or telephone services and lighting "with a new streetlight with a wifi point" that also has a camera surveillance that "will soon be extended to other streets in our city."

González de Zárate and Pellicer have discussed with the neighbors the rest of the interventions carried out in Colonia Madrid, the result of previous meetings between the associations sponsored by the Neighborhood Council and that have had an impact, Pellicer pointed out, especially in "cleaning and the urban scene ”, such as tile repair or“ alcorcado restoration ”.

The residents have been satisfied with the results of these meetings and have made their proposals to the councilors for future projects; Although, there have been many questions posed to González de Zárate, also Councilor for Mobility, after yesterday's announcement of the modification of Mobility Ordinance Number one that, presumably, will be approved by the Corporation's plenary session this coming Monday and that will mean the creation of green, orange and red parking zones. Free spaces for residents of the city and, in part, for those who are not registered who do their shopping in the city.

Next week, the Participation Department has summoned the residents in the Old Town of Benidorm, at 10 am at the entrance to Elche Park. On the other hand, Ana Pellicer has announced that for the next one, on September 10, citizens will be summoned to a meeting to discuss the Mobility Ordinance in detail. The place and time will be communicated later.
