Given the risk of forest fires, Justice advances the ban on burning by two months
The Regional Government suspends burning scrub until October 15
The resolution has already been published in the DOGV and invalids the permits issued by the City Council
The Department of Justice has suspended the burning of scrub throughout the territory of the Valencian Community from yesterday until October 15 according to the resolution published yesterday afternoon in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV).
The usual calendar prohibits the burning of scrub between June 15 and October 15, coinciding with the summer period in which high temperatures increase the risk of fire. However, given the lack of rain, the Ministry has decided to bring forward the prohibition period due to "the special risk conditions for forest fires that are affecting the Valencian Community."
The Councilor for the Environment, Mónica Gómez, explained that "the publication of this order renders void the burning permits issued by the City Council, in which they were authorized until June 15, so it is completely prohibited until mid-October or until the Regional Government lifts the suspension decreed today.”
Gómez has indicated that "to ensure that the information reaches all interested parties, throughout today the suspension of burning will be communicated to all the people who had requested the municipal permit."
