The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) denounces that the Poniente parking lot is closed during Holy Week

The Socialist Municipal Group has denounced that, amid Holy Week, the Poniente public parking building, located on Avenida de Puerto Rico, is closed tight, despite all the press headlines and announcements made by Toni Pérez's government in recent years. Socialist spokesperson Cristina Escoda criticized the PP government team for failing to put out a tender and award the contract to apply the same management model to this parking lot as to the L'Aigüera public parking lot.

Escoda recalled the statements made by the Mobility Councilor in June 2024, stating that "the contracting process was ongoing and that as soon as it was resolved, the new management model will be applied to this parking lot." "Almost a year has passed since those words, and everything remains the same, with no news of the specifications or the contract. This phantom building closed its doors in September, after being open for just over two months, and it remains closed," she stated.

She also highlighted that the Socialist Party (PSG) has been proposing for over a year and a half that the City Council assume direct management of this parking lot, which has more than 150 spaces, and demanding that the government team begin working on the tender for the service provision contract.

Finally, the spokesperson demanded that the mayor waste no more time and initiate all the necessary procedures to open this municipal infrastructure under direct management as soon as possible, establishing attractive prices for residents and tourists and offering discounts for customers of local businesses. "The part-time mayor is more concerned with his trips and photos around the province than with solving the problems of the citizens. Due to his incompetence, this parking lot has been closed during peak tourist periods, while residents and visitors have real difficulties finding parking in the area," she criticized.
