Cristina Escoda criticises the mayor for calling the plenary session with incomplete files and for voting against the socialist motion that proposed demanding that the Generalitat resume the reform of eight educational centres in Benidorm

The PSOE denounces that the mayor has lost control of the City Council due to his lack of management

Cristina Escoda del grupo Socialista.

The Socialist Municipal Group has denounced the Government team, the PP, because it has called a full plenary session in which the files were incomplete in several of the proposals or that, directly, the agreements that were submitted to vote were poorly stated. The socialist spokesperson, Cristina Escoda, has criticized that the mayor presented a plenary session with “formal errors” in the proposals, and has highlighted that what happened in today's plenary session, with the secretary and the auditor making in-voce reports, “says a lot about the way of working of this government and of a mayor who has lost control of the City Council”. “This plenary session has revealed the lack of management of an absent mayor more concerned with his photos and trips around the province than with his city”, she stressed.

Escoda has regretted that the popular bench has not agreed to leave on the table the points in question as requested by the socialist ranks to do “things well and as the regulations state”. Specifically, the PSOE has demanded that point five of the agenda be left on the table, which proposed the resolution by mutual agreement and the return of the guarantee for the integrated action of the tertiary sector APR-3. Some lands are located in the area where Avenida Comunidad Valenciana meets Severo Ocho and l’Assagador de Ricardo and that were once conceived as the 'golden mile' of Benidorm. Escoda has explained that the expiration of the resolution procedure by mutual agreement cannot be declared because there is a breach attributable to the developer and it would not comply with the provisions of article 112.4 of the Revised Text of the Law on Contracts of Public Administrations.

The second agreement questioned has been the proposal for the modification of Fiscal Ordinance number 17 about the rate for the provision of the service of collection, transport, valorisation and elimination of urban solid waste. The PSOE  argued that the mandatory reports from the Municipal Secretary and the gender report that had to be prepared by the Equality Department, as established by ruling 676/2021 of the TSJCV, were not attached to the file when the plenary session was called.

The last point of debate by the socialist group has been the modification of the Job List of the Benidorm Local Police. In this proposal, the mandatory report from the Municipal Secretary as established by the third article of Royal Decree 128/2018, nor a prior audit report from the municipal Intervention department, were not evacuated promptly.

However, Escoda has criticised Mayor Toni Pérez for filling the plenary sessions with proposals that have nothing to do with the daily life and problems of the residents of Benidorm and has regretted that the municipal group of the Popular Party has voted against the socialist proposal to demand that the Generalitat resume the reform projects of eight educational centres in Benidorm.
