Sergi Castillo regrets that the mayor has only managed to unblock one of the eight projects, when there are works that require urgent action

The PSOE demands that the PP resume all Edificant projects after 16 months of paralysis

El PSOE exige al PP que se retomen todos los proyectos de Edificant tras 16 meses de parálisis

The Socialist Municipal Group has presented a motion, which will be debated at the next plenary session on September 30, in which they propose that the municipal corporation demand that the Ministry of Education resume the actions approved for Benidorm within the Pla Edificant.

Specifically, the socialist proposal, which consists of three agreements, proposes that the City Council demand that the Consell comply with the commitments made by immediately resuming the process paralyzed in May 2023 to carry out improvement work at the CEIP Ausiàs March, CEIP Puig Campana, CEIP Vasco Núñez de Balboa, CEIP Gabriel Miró, CEIP El Murtal, CEIP Els Tolls, CEIP Serra d’Aitana and the IES Mediterrània. The second of the agreements includes urging the mayor to carry out all the necessary steps so that the Generalitat Valenciana covers the cost of these eight projects, as planned. The latter proposes to report these agreements to the Presidency of the Generalitat and the Minister of Education, and to the spokespersons of the political groups of the Valencian Parliament.

The deputy socialist spokesperson, Sergi Castillo, has highlighted that the situation of some of these educational centres requires urgent and unpostponable action, "since they affect the safety of the students who receive classes daily in these facilities", and has regretted that the mayor Toni Pérez has needed 16 months to unblock one of the projects. “It has been of little use to us to have a person with so much political power as Toni Pérez, who is the mayor president of the Provincial Council and president of the provincial PP, who has been unable for a year and four months to unblock the files when the safety and education of our children should have been a priority,” he said.

Castillo stressed that, after all this time and in the absence of responses from the municipal government to our questions about the resumption of the Pla Edificant, “we believe that it is an opportune moment for the plenary session of the Corporation to speak out again and ask the Generalitat for what belongs to it and what our students and our educational community deserve.” For the councillor, “the school community, parents and mothers do not deserve this contempt from the first councillor, who walks from event to event surrounded by photographers and has forgotten to work and manage for the future of our city.”
