The two officers will patrol the most touristic areas together with national and local officers and will provide assistance to French tourists

Policías nacionales de Francia se desplazan a Benidorm para colaborar en la ‘Operación Verano’

Two officers from the French Police Nationale will patrol the streets of Benidorm, along with members of the National Police, to reinforce "Operation Summer" during these August days and, in turn, to collaborate with the Local Police in the citizen security efforts carried out by both police forces in the city. The officers were presented this Tuesday by Benidorm's Chief Commissioner, Luis Manuel Sánchez, who explained that this collaboration is part of the "European Police Stations" project in which the National Police Force participates.

The Councillor for Public Service of Benidorm City Council, Jesús Carrobles, welcomed the two French officers and noted that "this collaboration has been going on for 14 years." The councillor also stated that this service "is noticeable in the city and works very well, as it represents a very important reinforcement, especially when it comes to providing data and information on all the French public who visit us during this fortnight in August."

For this reason, Carrobles expressed his gratitude once again for "the collaboration of these officers" and expressed his confidence that their actions "will greatly help in assisting French citizens spending their holidays in the city and in strengthening the security of our destination."

For his part, the Chief Commissioner of the National Police in Benidorm emphasised that the city "has special relevance within the 'European Police Stations' project due to its status as a major tourist destination." Likewise, Luis Manuel Sánchez explained that these French police officers, who are fluent in both French and Spanish and who join the rest of the police reinforcements arriving in the city for this 'Operation Summer', "come to collaborate, to work, to integrate into our workforce, with the fundamental objective of serving and assisting French nationals, so that they see a familiar police force that speaks their language and that generates trust."

Both have the mission of preventing crime on public roads by reaching out to the general public, but particularly to tourists of their nationalities, whom they assist with translation work and help in any other situation. In addition to these tasks, their collaboration in the city also allows the National Police to access databases in their country, which, in addition to providing references to victims of petty crimes during their vacations, also allows them to obtain information on French citizens who may be involved in a criminal offence while in Benidorm.
