The pianist Jesús Gómez pays tribute to the saxophonist Pedro Iturralde in Benidorm Assembly Hall
Yesterday afternoon, the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council hosted a concert by the pianist Jesús María Gómez, part of the cycle of the Great Recitals of the Department of Culture, programmed as a tribute to the Spanish composer and saxophonist Pedro Iturralde under the title 'Viejos Amigos'.
The repertoire included pieces such as 'Zorongo Gitano', 'Homenaje a Granados', 'Miniatura-Impromptu', 'Balada Galaica', 'El Molino y el río', 'Jazz Waltz', 'Homenaje a trane' and 'Elegía', which drew applause from those present.
Jesús María Gómez has a doctorate in Education from the University of Alicante and a higher degree in piano and chamber music, having studied in Spain, Paris and Antwerp.
He is currently a professor of piano and deputy director of the Óscar Esplá Superior Conservatory of Music in Alicante and a member of the Valencian Academy of Music since 2017.
