"Pedro Zaragoza Orts" Chair designs its programming and prepares the Tourism Forum 2020

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, has chaired the first working meeting of the Chair of Tourism Studies Pedro Zaragoza Orts in Benidorm after the relief in the direction of the agency, produced last December, when Professor Jorge Pereira ceded that responsibility to the professor Armando Ortuño.

The Privincial Council of Alicante, through the Tourism Board of the Costa Blanca, joins the group of employers of the Chair that make up Benidorm City Council and the University of Alicante together with Benidorm Tourism Foundation, Hosbec and the Generalitat Valenciana through of the Invat.tur.

The chair, said the new director, "will maintain the trajectory started in the stage of Professor Pereira and enhance its activity in Social Networks." In this sense Ortuño has stressed that the program of activities of the 25th Anniversary of Tourism Studies at the University of Alicante is still managed by the previous director and that in the immediate month of February he has scheduled the conference of Professor Carlos Baños on “The reinvention of Sun and Beach tourism ”, and will continue in March.

In the course of the meeting, the strategic projects to be developed by the chair whose objective is the analysis, research and teaching of reality, the problems and perspectives of companies and tourist destinations in general and Benidorm in particular have been raised .

The environmental, social and economic sustainability of the destination will be the work axes that will converge in the application of the 2030 Agenda and the measurement of the impact of the Sustainable Development Goals on Smart Tourist Destination that is Benidorm trying to increase the reputation and value of Benidorm tourist brand.

As for Benidorm International Tourism Forum, the 2020 edition coincides with the 20th Anniversary of this appointment, now biannual, and manages a wider projection of its work premises and more focused on the measurement and applicability of the postulates framed in the SDG as well as in the footprint on residents and tourists, must be compatible, in calendar, with the events that will coincide in the third quarter of the year, complementing both the new edition of the Digital Tourist, and the third, and the events that have the support of the World Tourism Organization, as is the Forum.
