Pedestrianization works of Gerona street are completed and Esperanto advances
The works on Gerona Street, in the section between Esperanto Street and Orts Llorca, have come to an end. The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, together with the councilors of Works, José Ramón González de Zárate; of Commerce, Ana Pellicer; and Street Cleaning, Arturo Cabrillo; and municipal technicians, have traversed the layout and checked the latest performances that have made pedestrian one of the busiest points of the city.
The City Council has invested nearly 380,000 euros in this performance, which has allowed the creation of a new space 100% free of architectural barriers with sidewalks and roadways at the same height. In the subsoil a new rainwater collection system has been created that will prevent small floods in the case of heavy rains. The paving has been done with deactivated concrete, of blue tones. New street furniture has also been installed, tree-lined and renovated public lighting that will work with optical fiber, will have Wi-Fi signal and will be equipped with plugs for the recharge of mobile devices.
The winning company, Bertolín, SA, has also offered an improvement in performance of an additional 44.84%, which has allowed a complementary intervention on the street Esperanto that municipal representatives have been able to travel also this morning. These works comprise a stretch of around 150 meters, to the Plaza Triangular, which will link in the immediate future with the remodeling project of Mediterráneo Avenue announced by the City Council.
