POMB

Pacte per l’Ocupació de la Marina Baixa (POMB), comprised of all the municipalities in the region and social partners such as the UGT and CCOO unions and the CEV Business Confederation, held its second Governing Council meeting of the year this Wednesday. The meeting, which took place in Benidorm City Hall's Plenary Hall, served to review the past year and plan the actions the organisation will undertake in 2026. Mónica Gómez, Benidorm City Council's Councillor for Employment and Local Promotion, who also chairs the POMB, presided over the Governing Council meeting, which was also attended by the Territorial Director of Employment and LABORA in Alicante, Cortes María Martínez de las Heras.

Regarding the activities carried out since June 25, 2025, the date on which the new POMB project began, subsidized by LABORA through funds from the SEPE (State Public Employment Service), in recent months, the Pacte technical staff have explained the guidance sessions, workshops, and talks with unemployed people or those interested in improving their employment situation that have taken place during 2025. A total of 40 workshops have been held in the different municipalities of the Marina Baixa region, 27 of which focused on Employment Guidance and 13 on promoting the Marina Baixa Entrepreneurial Ecosystem. These workshops have been conducted by POMB staff as well as specialised teachers or in collaboration with entities such as the Government Sub-delegation, CEEI Elche, TRAGSA, FEMPA, and the Chamber of Commerce, among others.

Additionally, 58 in-person interviews have been conducted to provide career guidance to individuals interested in improving their employment situation, to understand the evolving needs and demands of both employees and employers, and to guide citizens in training and job searching or improvement.

Furthermore, 28 telephone guidance interviews and over 200 online consultations have been carried out.

In addition, and as part of the Pact's new objectives, 26 consultations have been provided to entrepreneurs or those with an entrepreneurial project.

The president of POMB, Mónica Gómez, highlighted "the support of all the municipalities" in enabling the development of the courses and guidance programs programmed by the Pacte per l’Ocupació (Employment Pact) and expressed her gratitude for the work carried out by the technical staff hired to manage this organization, also noting that "the objectives we set for the POMB have been met."

Furthermore, this meeting of the Governing Council also addressed other matters, such as the proposal for a Circular Economy conference to be held in La Vila Joiosa in 2026, as well as new projects and actions to be carried out throughout 2026.

Marina Baixa Employment Pact was established on March 10, 2023, with the signatures of representatives from the 18 municipalities that make up this region, along with the CCOO, UGT, and CEV unions. Its main lines of action are the promotion of entrepreneurship and the promotion of job placement. This project has been subsidised by LABORA, with an amount of €189,678.13 for the period from June 2025 to December 2026, through the program for promoting territorial agreements on employment and participatory and sustainable local development in the Valencian Community. It currently also has around thirty collaborating entities.
